Maestra joins isla

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Maestra is delighted to announce that we are now a member of isla – a non-profit organisation founded as the event industry’s response to climate change. The focus of the organisation is in three core areas: zero waste, 100% renewable, and carbon emission reductions.

At Maestra, we fully recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment through our use of raw materials, waste generation, and emissions, and our aim is to minimise this as far as reasonably possible.

With the introduction of our Scenic Division in 2018, it became even more critical for us to ensure that we became fully committed to implementing a robust response to the issue.

We are committed to:

1. Reduction

We are committed to reducing our use of materials that are not sustainable while delivering on our clients’ event objectives.

We will continually monitor the environmental impact of our operations and reduce our landfill waste.

2. Reuse

We will continue to produce stock items that can be reused on events over several years, providing our clients with easy, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions.

3. Education

We will make sustainability a key agenda point at our project meetings – driving awareness and embedding sustainability within our culture.

We aim to educate our clients on the issue of sustainability and increase their awareness of alternative material choices to lessen the impact on the environment.

Maestra is at the start of an exciting journey in developing and improving its approach to sustainability. We intend to lead the way in the Middle East event industry as a scenic and technical supplier with a real, tangible response to this issue. We don’t want to just produce policies, we want to embed change into our culture.

We look forward to collaborating with leading agencies, organisers, and suppliers through isla to gain more knowledge and confidence to facilitate change. Find out more about isla here.
